Carson 24 Weeks

I can't believe I have been pregnant for 6 months!! I guess the first part goes by quickly because you don't realize your pregnant as often without the big belly interfering. But I'm sure these last few months will go by just as quick. Here is my update...

How far along: 24 weeks
Best moment this week: Naming baby
Miss Anything: Coffee! Reid's morning cups have been smelling pretty good. I know it's okay to have it, but I'm committed not too.
Movement: Yes!! He is moving lots (or so I think they are movements I'm feeling). I don't feel anything too strong yet, but get little "flutters" or "fish bubbles" as I like to think of them mid morning and in the evening.
Food cravings: Chocolate and I've never been much of a chocolate lover.
Have you started to show yet: Yes! I don't have any mirrors in my house where I can see myself grow, so the other day I saw my reflection in the door after taking Snyder for a walk and thought to myself, "when did I get so big!"
Gender prediction: It's a BOY!! I didn't care either way but Reid is very excited!
Looking forward to: Decorating the nursery.

So as I mentioned above, I've been having a very bad chocolate craving. Usually I'm the kinda sweets girl that will grab a bag of skittles, or have some sorbet/sherbet. I don't know what it is but I treated myself to DQ the other week and found myself ordering a chocolate blizzard with M&M's. Here was my snack the other day to satisfy my chocolate craving...

Apples and peanut butter sprinkled with some chocolate chips

What is wrong with me!!

The Makings of a Nursery and an Added Surprise

I am so excited that we finally have the big pieces of the nursery here! I can't wait to start adding the little touches to bring it all together. We decided to make the nursery an outdoor themed room (surprise surprise!) I have decided I'm not a fan of the cutesy baby looking stuff so he is going to have a more "grown-up" looking nursery (or that's my plan anyways). I am sure I will have Pinterest to thank when it is all said and done. Here is what we have so far, and the projects we are working on.

The all important crib. Thanks Nonni and Poppa for giving little man a place to sleep

Our dresser we found at a thrift store for $25

Reid discovered Milk Paint which we are going to use to re-finish the dresser

And the surprise Baby J has a name!! This is the first artwork for the nursery

Yeah we don't have to refer to the little man as Booger or Baby J anymore as Reid and I have decided to name our son Carson Joseph Jennings! And here is how the name unfolded...

If we had a boy, we always knew his middle name was going to be Joseph after Reid's dad. His dad's name also began with a "C" so I had always liked the idea of possibly naming him something that began with a "C" too. Next piece is that if we were going to have a girl, she was going to be named after a mountain (McKinley) so we thought why not do the same for a boy too. Then we realized that the last big mountain we climbed together before we found out I was pregnant was Kit Carson! Perfect!! Not only was it a mountain name but it also started with a "C.". Hopefully one day Reid and I will be able to take Carson up the mountain which he was named after.

Stay tuned for my 24 week baby post coming on Thursday :)

Boy or Girl...

...it's a BOY! Reid's response when the ultrasound tech told us was, "I told you so!" He is so very excited to have a little boy that he can take on his outdoor adventures.

Cheers! to our baby BOY
I can't wait to have a little brother to chase me around
Since we weren't very creative when telling our parents that we were pregnant we tried to come up with something to suprise them they were going to have a grandson. I had bought a Hershey bar that we were going to color in a HE with blue or a SHE with pink depending on the results. Since we don't live near our parents, I had my friend help me out. She was going to decorate the mailbox with streamers and have the Hershey bar inside an envelope that said "He or She, Open To See." Well the markers didn't work on the Hershey wrapper so my friend wrapped paper around the bar so you could only see the HE. She also thought it would be funny to put pink on the outside of the mailbox and blue inside. Well this led to confusion within some thinking that it was a girl (with no other gift inside) and some that we were having twins! That ontop of our parents insisting me that they still hadn't received anything because when I said "Go check your mail" they both went to their Emails didn't make the plan workout how I intended but in the end it was still fun!

Baby J, or Booger as Reid and I now call him, checked out fine at his appointment with all 10 fingers and toes. He was also weighing in at 1lbs. He was still a squirmy little guy so I'm sure I'm going to have lots of fun when I feel that more.

21 week profile shot. What a handsome little lad!
It's A Boy!!
21 week baby foot

Baby J 20 Weeks

Well I didn't endure too much stress last night during the Fiesta Bowl. Even though it didn't turn out how I would have liked, I'm still proud to be a Wildcat and proud of all the team accomplished this season. We'll get a bowl game one of these years!

But now for the reason I'm posting, Booger is 20 weeks old!! I definitely have a preggo belly now and even can notice it getting harder to bend over. But I'm sure the best is yet to come, lol!

How far along: 20 weeks
Best moment this week: Reid and I both got to feel baby move!
Miss Anything:

Movement: Yes!! I thought I felt something while home for the holidays but wasn't certain, then a couple days before New Years I was laying in bed and felt good movement. Even Reid got to feel.
Food cravings: I don't know if I would categorize them as "cravings" but I sure did enjoy lots of sweets this holiday season.
Have you started to show yet: Yes!
Gender prediction: Our families our divided. Mine (with exception of my mother and grandmother) say boy and Reid's family says girl. I have a feeling it's a girl and Reid is crossing all fingers and toes for a boy.
Looking forward to: My doc appointment next week. We find out the sex of the baby.
Fun fact this month: Not really fun but I can finally start wearing some maternity clothes. Makes it all feel that much more "real"

In other news we are moving to a new place this weekend. The new year hasn't been too good to us yet as we found out the project Reid was working for might reach a settlement which could potentially mean he's out of a job months before expected. I'm trying not to stress too much about it and know some how something will work out for us. I do hope things start to look up for us soon!
