Carson: 5 Months

Very curious about our feet

Little man was 5 months old on Tuesday! So hard to believe!! At our last doctor's appointment, they wanted to start keeping track of his growth since he tapered off a little. So Reid and I decided to take him back at 5 months for a weight check and it's a good thing we did...

Newborn: 8lbs 6.3oz and 20.5 in
Two Weeks: 9lbs 1oz and 21in
Two Months: 12lbs 9.5oz and 25 in
Four Months: 13lbs 13oz and 25.5 in
Five Months: 13lbs 11.5oz and 26 in

Our doc didn't have a medical concern about him losing weight because he is still growing length wise and basically it boiled down to we think Carson is burning more calories than I can give him. This kid won't sit still no matter where you set him down. Hopefully we can beef him up a bit and he'll be back on track for when we decide to start solids.

So back to how much Carson is changing!! Our newest skill we are working on is crawling. While we aren't there quite yet, we sure are working on it. I've also been working with him on sitting up. We borrowed a Bumbo seat and he can tolerate the "tripod" position for 5min at a time. Then we topple :) But the best news for Mom and Dad is that he sleeps 9-11hrs at night now. After a rough month of waking up multiple times at night, we bumped up his bedtime to 7:30p and he's sleeping like a champ. I've got the morning nap mastered and am now working on a little rest in the afternoon. We sure do love this little guy to pieces.

Cutest Pumpkin In The Patch

This weekend we decided to go to the pumpkin patch. Last year we went to a dud one so I made sure to find a better one this time. I got spoiled with Green Bluff in Spokane and I don't think anything will ever compare. We ended up at Rock Creek Farm outside Broomfield. The pumpkin patches here are beautiful because you have these large open spaces with great mountain views. We managed to keep Carson happy enough to get some pictures and pick a couple pumpkins. And we couldn't leave without a caramel apple, yum!

Manhattan, Here We Come!

Last weekend we made a trip to Manhattan to go to the K-State/Baylor game. I wish I could say the weekend was a blast, so here is how the story goes...

My friend Stephanie recently moved to Manhattan and it was wonderful to not have to make the extra two-hour journey to KC to stay. It is still so hard to believe that we are both mommies now but we couldn't ask for two better little boys! We sure hope they grow up to be best buds :)

Little did we know the best part of the Manhattan trip for Carson would be tailgating! I knew I at least wanted to try to take him in to the game, but didn't know how he would take to the noise. I must say, you never really realize how loud a football game really is until you take a baby with you, lol. Our first mistake was getting in to the game just in time for the Harley's to ride around the stadium. And that just set the tone for the game. With a loud whistler a couple rows behind us and the scoreboard playing the announcer nearby as well, Carson was not a happy camper. But he survived the first quarter and then I headed back to the tailgate with him. Thankfully as soon as I walked out of the stadium, he was back to his happy self. At least he got a cool new hat and sweatpants. :)

So right now it appears Carson not enjoying himself  was our only worries for the day, but it turns out that would be the least of our worries. Because we have had problems with Snyder being alone in people's houses in the past, we decided to leave him in Steph's backyard (with his dogbed and duckie). Well my parents met us around halftime of the game to take Carson for a little while. We they got to Steph's house, my brother called to say Snyder wasn't in the backyard...WHAT?!? Long story short, we left the game and called the local animal shelter. Thinking this was a shot in the dark, we didn't scan our tickets to go back in to the game. But luck was on our side and they had picked him up but we weren't able to pick him up until the next morning (that was a fiasco in itself). So now we were stuck finishing the game at the tailgate. When we got back to the house, we discovered he had broke part of the fence and wiggled his way out. I don't know what it is with this dog that we can't leave him anywhere. Hope he's satisified that he has to be boarded now everytime we go somewhere and can't stay with him.
